Seniors, please submit your FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid) as soon as possible! On this page, you will find information that will help you and your parents complete your FAFSA, along with important deadlines! Your FAFSA should be submitted between October 1st and March 1st.
If you have questions concerning completing your FAFSA you may request individual FAFSA assistance by contacting the Division of Financial Aid at wvfinancialaid@wvhepc.edu or calling (304) 558-4619. They will be able to answer specific questions about your FAFSA on an individual basis.
To complete the FAFSA, you will need:
- Your social security number
- You Alien Registration Number (if you are not a U.S. citizen)
- Your federal income tax returns, W-2s, and other records of money earned. (Note: You may be able to transfer your federal tax return information into your FAFSA using the IRS Data Retrieval Tool)
- Bank statements and record of investments (if applicable)
- Records of untaxed income (if applicable)
- An FSA ID to sign electronically
If you are a dependent student, then you will also need most of the above information for your parent(s), this includes a Parent FSA ID so they can sign electronically.
STATE DEADLINES:
March 1, 2022
PROMISE Scholarship: March 1, 2022. New applicants must submit additional forms at cfwv.com. Contact your financial aid administrator or your state agency.
April 15, 2022
WV Higher Education Grant: April 15, 2022.
WV Invests Grant: For priority consideration, submit your application by April 15, 2022.
COLLEGE DEADLINE:

Visit the school’s website or contact its financial aid office. School deadlines are usually early in the year, often in February or March, although some are even earlier.
FEDERAL DEADLINE:
June 30, 2023
The FAFSA form must be submitted by 11:59 p.m. Central time (CT) on June 30, 2023. Any corrections or updates must be submitted by 11:59 p.m. CT on Sept. 10, 2023.
Changes to Your Family's Financial Situation:
If your or your family’s financial situation has changed significantly from what is reflected on your federal income tax return (for example, if you’ve lost a job or otherwise experienced a drop in income), you may be eligible to have your financial aid adjusted. Complete the FAFSA questions as instructed on the application (including the transfer of tax return and income information), submit your FAFSA form, then contact the school you plan to attend to discuss how your current financial situation has changed. Note that the school's decision is final and cannot be appealed to the U.S. Department of Education. Visit StudentAid.gov/coronavirus for more information.
