The Preliminary SAT/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test is a standardized test administered by the College Board and cosponsored by the National Merit Scholarship Corporation in the US. Students take the PSAT/NMSQT during their sophomore or junior year of high school. Students who receive high enough scores on their PSAT/NMSQT as a junior potentially become National Merit Scholarship recipients, which can be a nice chunk of change to help pay for college.
