Meet Your Counselors

Meet the Counselor - Ms. Daniel

Ms. Kaitlyn (Katie) Daniel, School Counselor (Students L-Z)

Welcome to the 2020-2021 school year! This is my first full academic year at Independence High School as a school counselor; I am very excited to work with our students, teachers, and community. Prior to school counseling, I obtained my Bachelor of Science in Business Administration with an emphasis in Management from Concord University in 2017. While living in Boulder, Colorado, I decided to change my career path and began obtaining a Master of Arts in Counseling with an emphasis in School Counseling through Marshall University. As a school counselor, some of my goals are to help students with their social/emotional needs, encourage students to find success academically, and aid students in developing career goals for after high school graduation.

When I am not busy working on graduate school coursework, I like to read, knit, watch movies/shows, exercise (yoga, barre, circuit, and hiking), travel,  and spend time with family and friends.

I am very honored to have the opportunity to work with students, families, teachers, and the community of Independence High School.  As a school counselor, I am available to ALL students enrolled at IHS via Schoology, email, phone, and during office hours. Students may schedule an appointment as needed on our calendar. To better know the needs of our students for our meetings,  please complete the Needs Assessment Form

Favorite Quote: "As human beings, our job in life is to help people realize how rare and valuable each one of us really is, that each of us has something that no one else has – or ever will have – something inside that is unique to all time. It's our job to encourage each other to discover that uniqueness and to provide ways of developing its expression."
